The Core Curriculum on Childhood Trauma (CCCT) is a tool developed by the National Child Traumatic Stress Network to promote a trauma-informed mental health workforce. The 12 Core Concepts for Understanding Traumatic Stress Responses in Children and Families form the theoretical foundation and act as guiding principles for the CCCT. The main objective for these concepts is to provide practitioners with a shared vocabulary for conceptualizing and talking about traumatic events.
