Elementor Single Post #11056

What do the Emmy Awards, Legos, and the first mammal in space have in common with Mental Health Awareness (MHA) Month? It turns out that they all have their origin in the year 1949. I was honestly surprised to discover that this is the 75th anniversary of MHA month, as mental health has felt like a topic that has been pushed to the background for far too long. I am energized by the recent shift to center mental well-being and have open conversations about mental health and recovery. Trauma-responsive practice plays a critical role in supporting the mental health of individuals, the workforce, and communities. We know that mental well-being is a collective responsibility and that we have the power to co-create the space and culture that can promote the emotional health of those who live, work, and live in those environments. In support of MHA awareness month, I ask you to share your trauma-informed journey with the Network by creating a listing in the directory profile, submitting a submitting a proposal to the upcoming Annual Conference, and/or joining us at the Quarterly Network meeting on May 22. Together we can create a world where everyone can thrive!

Trauma-Informed Supervision

by Debra Cady, LCSW – Founder/CEO of Silver Linings International, LLC

In today’s rapidly evolving workplace landscape, the integration of trauma-informed principles into supervisory practices is not just a suggestion but a necessity. As awareness of trauma’s prevalence and impact continues to grow, exacerbated byrecent events such as the COVID-19 pandemic and social justice movements, supervisors must adapt to meet the ever-evolving needs of their teams.

Helping Resettlement Communities Event

April 26th, 2024

Compassion, care, collaboration and community were central themes of a panel discussion at the Helping Resettlement Communities Event held by The House of Refuge, MER Consulting, in partnership with the NYS TINRC. More events like this can help communities work together to meet the needs of refugee, asylum seeker and migrant populations. As Officer Moses Robinson, event host and community liaison officer with the Rochester Police Department, shared, “Change happens when you put the right people together.”
