Welcome to the new year! It is hard to believe that 2025 ushers in year 3 of the NYS Trauma Informed Network and Resource Center. We have much to celebrate with incredible accomplishments over the past two years – launching of Tending the Roots training, accessible Breath, Body, Mind practices, the first TINRC on Tour, welcoming our Storytellers in Residence, expanding our Advisory Council, two incredible conferences, the release of the updated TRUST survey, and increasing opportunities for connection in the digital world. With all that we have done, what brings me the greatest sense of joy is who we are as a statewide network. I have the privilege to meet and learn from folks from all parts of the state and have witnessed that not only have the seeds been planted, but we can now see that the sprouts are growing, and that we are beginning to yield a harvest.
If we reflect on the cycles of the season, we are now deeply in a place of rest and renewal. While we are surrounded by messaging encouraging us to set goals and activate, the cool morning air and snow laden ground, reminds us that we will benefit from taking a pause and making time for reflection. What has served us well and we want to bring forth into the new year? Where is there room for release to create space for something new (or not, just space).
My wish for you in this new year is that you find and take what you need and give what you are able in service of our mutual benefit.
Elizabeth

My career began at the age of 13 when I entered the juvenile justice system. I entered the system because of my school attendance. At that time if I remember correctly, if you missed 30 in a school year you ultimately got probation, entering the criminal justice system. I’m talking about middle school and high school-aged youth here.
