TRUST is a strengths-based organizational self-assessment tool that provides organizations and educational institutions with a point in time “snapshot” of where they are in their journey towards becoming a trauma-responsive, equity-centered organization.
The tool employs the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA) 10 Implementation Domains as a framework for guiding survey participants through a sequence of questions to assess implementation of trauma-informed and equity-centered practices.
TRUST allows organizations, schools, and districts to view aggregated survey results from their leadership and staff and display these results within a concise, real-time report along with recommendations for bolstering trauma-informed practices.
TRUST was updated in 2024 by CCSI to infuse an equity lens and increase adaptability of the survey through support from the New York State Office of Mental Health. In 2026, CCSI updated the TRUST again to make the survey clearer and easier to understand, while still measuring the same concepts and better meet the needs and reflect the culture of school districts. Organizations and schools can use the latest versions of the TRUST evaluate trauma-informed, equity-centered practices in real time and identify action steps.
