Humbly Grateful

Storytellers in Residence

Grateful and blessed for the years

Of life

Humbled,

Grateful

What a time to be alive

There were buildings,

standing tall,

commanding, and in my way,

but I broke them down

Sure did

brick by brick,

slowly,

patiently

Every single day.

The tools sent to destroy me,

Wrecking balls and cranes

Tried to reduce the soul of me

to crumbs of foundation and of jagged terrain

I got a broom and a shovel

I started clearing this wreckage away

I’m gonna keep cleaning until the perfect foundation I can lay

It’s not impossible

just gotta move a few things

this way or that

I re-read my blueprint

Strapped up my boots and donned my hard hat

Ex lovers, bad parents

plus

life’s just been really hard

I can no longer feel the pain of these blatant, perpetual scars

They stopped hurting never forgetting how they got here

But it’s time to make new memories in this up and coming year

I believe in you no matter who is not able

Be cautious and weary of who has a seat at your new table

Brick by brick building but some times u will get stuck

Remember there’s a light shining if you just remember to look up

Stay True,

Stay humble

Always be Honest with you

Loving you isn’t selfish

It’s calming

it’s peaceful

and it’s extremely easy to do
