Every July, we take time to recognize Minority Mental Health Awareness Month.
We understand that people from marginalized communities — groups who have been treated unfairly in society — face specific challenges when it comes to mental health. This includes supportive mental health care that istrusted and culturally responsive.
This month, we take time to understand how cultural, racial, and historical factors have impacted communities of color, and their experience of trauma, resilience, and healing. We recognize the continued injustices and our commitment to promoting trauma, responsive, equity focused mental health services.
At the NYS TINRC, we’re committed to helping people understand the deep, often invisible, impact of trauma. We celebrate the voices and lived experience of marginalized communities. We will continue to listen, learn, and grow with those who are most impacted.
We invite you to join us on this journey. We can support organizations and communities that support minority mental health by sharing resources.
