As I begin my residency as a storyteller, my intention is to remind the citizens of New York that although trauma has been normalized, it is not normal. Unfortunately, over 60% of U.S. adults report having experienced trauma, and nearly two-thirds report one or more adverse childhood experiences (ACEs). While the data is grim, I want you to know that if you’ve experienced trauma, healing is possible, and hope still exists.
Growing up in New York City, I didn’t believe my voice would ever become monumental enough to influence anyone. Even as I became a young caregiver to my mother, I thought the struggles I endured were simply a normal part of life. Over time, as I began sharing my story, I discovered that people resonated with my experiences—not only because parts were relatable, but because the resilience that carried me through was inspiring to others.
This residency is an opportunity for me to demonstrate that people who’ve experienced trauma aren’t broken people to be fixed or shamed, but whole people encouraged to heal, thrive, and return to themselves when they’ve encountered things that cause disconnection from their greatness. My hope is that my story can serve as both mirror and map: a reflection of shared pain and a pathway toward transformation.
Over the next few weeks, I’ll guide you through my Inner Landscape Map, a digital storytelling journey that explores my evolution through trauma, grief, and healing from birth to now. The map has four “stops”:
Seeds of Resilience Affirmation Deck
Mapping My Journey Digital Collage
Embodying Healing Guided Meditation
Power Reclamation Call to Action
This map illuminates not only the darkest valleys I’ve walked through but also the light that emerged through truth-seeking, courage, and self-compassion.
Today, I’d like to introduce you to the first two stops on that journey: The Seeds of Resilience Affirmation Deck and Mapping My Journey Digital Collage.
Seeds of Resilience Affirmation Deck
The Seeds of Resilience Affirmation Deck was created as a resource to encourage and support your own healing journey. Reciting affirmations daily has offered me spiritual and energetic strength when physical strength felt impossible to access. These words have helped me rebuild confidence, reconnect with my power, and remember who I am on days I couldn’t see myself clearly.
Each card offers gentle acknowledgment and acceptance of your lived experiences, planting a seed of resilience through compassion and affirmation. The 31 cards are organized into five categories:
Resilience: The Roots of Strength
Embodiment: Strengthening Stems
Hope: Springing Forth Radiant Buds
Transformation: Entering Full Bloom
Power: Petals of Pristine Beauty
I invite you to pull a card each day for encouragement, reflection, self-care, or healing. You can also create your own affirmations inspired by your story—your own “seeds of resilience.” Feel free to get creative by designing a personal affirmation card and sharing it with TINRC on Instagram or elsewhere.

Mapping My Journey Digital Collage
The Mapping My Journey Digital Collage is a visual representation of my Inner Landscape Map. It invites you to journey with me from birth to the present, offering context and background for the experiences that have shaped me.
Each stop—The River of Illusion, The Valley of Cracks, The Greatest Walk, and The Clearing—represents a phase in my transformation from survival to reclamation.
The collage reminds us that healing is ongoing; it is not about reaching a final destination but about learning to navigate life’s terrain with courage instead of fear.
Through images and reflective storytelling, the map invites you to consider your own inner landscapes. It also encourages you to reflect on how grief and growth coexist and how grief itself can become an antidote to trauma.

After viewing, I invite you to create your own digital collage—complete with your own “stops” and creative interpretations. Tag TINRC if you share your creation; we’d love to see your journey represented.
I want to express deep gratitude to TINRC for providing this platform to share my story with my fellow New Yorkers.
Over the next few weeks, I’ll open the door to some intimate moments of my life—as your fellow traveler and neighbor.
In a world where connection often feels fragile, storytelling reminds us that we are never truly alone. Through this work, may we find community in our healing and courage in our shared humanity.
I wish you peace, resilience, and the very best that life has to offer.
